Notice of Availability of a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for US Wind’s Proposed Wind Energy Facility Offshore Maryland

Deadline for making online comments is November 20, 11:59 pm.

Recently the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) released its Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for two US Wind project proposals. This impact statement details what BOEM thinks about the proposals and is an important step ahead of awarding permits.

Go here to say why you think these two US Wind Maryland projects off Delaware’s shores should go forward in the approval process. Although these projects will not directly benefit Delaware they’re for the greater good. They’ll add yet another increment to efforts to minimize world-wide climate change.

More information about the project.

So, line up your facts, be sure to use reliable sources, and write your views. Check out some of the Facts in this website to learn more on the talking points you’d like to share. BOEM is keen to hear what we have to say. The intake software allows you to add attachments.

Listening Sessions Set for Input on Ocean and Bay Plan
Let the folks at DNREC doing Delaware’s ocean planning know that you want to an offshore wind project off our coast. BOEM has included two relatively small new lease areas off our coast in its latest “draft wind areas” proposal. They cite scallop fisheries in the area as the problem for the small size of the lease areas. Do the presence of scallop grounds justify BOEM’s decisions? What can DNREC tell us about the marine life in the planning area that would help our thinking about offshore wind turbine placement? Attend a listening session in Dover on July 23rd. DNREC will have about 8 staff members on hand to answer questions and to look up compelling marine life information on the internet (internet data largely courtesy of MARCO).
